<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n Daphne White is a playwright, journalist and activist now living in Berkeley, CA. A staged reading of her play Susan B.<\/i><\/strong>, about intersectional struggles within the early suffrage movement, launched the Bay Area Women\u2019s Theatre Festival at Berkeley Rep in March, 2020. The play also received a staged reading by The Fonseca Theatre Company in Indianapolis in 2022. Susan B.<\/strong>,<\/i> is a finalist in the 2020 Julie Harris Playwright Award Competition, established by Neil Simon.<\/p>\n Daphne\u2019s next play, Shiva in the Garden of Eden<\/strong>, <\/i>is a dysfunctional family drama about estranged siblings, a contested will and an angry ghost. Shiva<\/strong><\/i> had a staged reading at The Mendocino Theatre in 2022. There was also a staged reading by Valley Players in Napa, CA in 2022, and the group will perform a second staged reading at a different venue (by popular demand) in May, 2023.<\/p>\n Daphne’s most recent play is Forest Rituals<\/i><\/strong>, which follows five characters as they search for meaning at a remote retreat center as the world is spinning out of control.<\/p>\n Two of Daphne\u2019s 10-minute plays had staged readings as part of Theater J\u2019s 5×5 Festival in Washington, DC.<\/p>\n Daphne grew up in New York City and is a graduate of Brown University.
