Forest Rituals

Synopsis

Four wounded strangers arrive at a remote retreat center harboring secrets and heartbreak. They are totally unprepared for the sheer wildness that confronts them. What are they looking for, exactly, and will they be able to find it? Will The Nest heal them, or break them? As their carefully constructed facades begin to crack under the forced intimacy of the retreat and pending environmental disaster, events begin to spiral out of control. Will everyone make it home alive?

Forest Rituals was semi-finalist in the 2024 New Art City Theatre festival competition.

Forest Rituals had two performances in 2024. One was held at the Redwood Grove of the UC Berkeley Botanical Garden as a benefit for Save the Redwoods League, and received a standing ovation from an audience of 200 people. The second performance was open to the public and held at a Berkeley dance studio.

You can see short clips and audience reactions from that performance here.

Forest Rituals will have its West Coast premiere in the summer of 2025 as a production of the Yiddish Theatre Ensemble. It will be directed by the award-winning director Bruce Bierman. Please email us if you would like to be notified of the dates and times as we get closer to the event.
